The terms, in plain language.

By creating a Kathari account, accepting a one-off cleaning job as an external cleaner (someone without a Kathari account), or otherwise using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use Kathari.

If you use Kathari on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business to these Terms, and "you" refers to both you and that business.

Our Privacy policy describes how we handle information about you and is part of these Terms.

Kathari is a software platform that helps short-term rental owners and the cleaners they work with coordinate cleaning jobs. The service includes scheduling, checklists, photo proof of work, reports, and tracking of payments owners owe cleaners.

Kathari does not perform cleaning, employ cleaners, vet cleaners, or move money between owners and cleaners. We provide the software; the cleaning work and the payment for it remain between you and the person on the other side of the job.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Kathari and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction. By using the service, you confirm you meet these requirements.

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. If you lose access or suspect someone else is using your account, tell us promptly at [email protected].

You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep it current. We may suspend or terminate accounts that show signs of fraud, abuse, or violation of these Terms.

Free trial. Owners can start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card required. The trial includes up to two properties and the full feature set.

Paid plans. After the trial, owners choose a paid plan to keep using the service. Plan prices and the properties each plan supports are shown on our pricing page. Subscriptions started through our website are billed monthly in advance by our payment processor. Subscriptions started through the Apple App Store are billed by Apple under your Apple ID, subject to Apple's terms. All fees are in U.S. dollars and exclusive of any applicable taxes.

Cleaners. Kathari is free for cleaners.

Cancellation. If you subscribed through our website, you can cancel at any time from your account settings. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, you must manage and cancel that subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings — we cannot cancel an App Store subscription on your behalf. Either way, your plan continues until the end of the current billing period; we do not refund unused portions of a billing period unless required by law.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, we (or Apple, for App Store subscriptions) may retry the charge. After a reasonable grace period, paid features may be suspended until payment is resolved.

Price changes. We may change our prices from time to time. We'll notify you at least 30 days before a price change affects your account, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect if you don't want to continue.

Kathari is a coordination tool, not a marketplace. Owners choose the cleaners they invite and the terms of work; cleaners choose which jobs to accept. The relationship between you and the person on the other side of a job is yours alone.

We do not vet cleaners, verify credentials, or guarantee the quality, completeness, safety, or timing of any cleaning. You're responsible for choosing who you work with, agreeing on what's required, and resolving any disputes between you directly.

Payments between owners and cleaners. Kathari tracks what an owner owes a cleaner for completed jobs, but we do not collect, hold, or transfer any money between owners and cleaners. Payment happens off-platform on whatever terms you agree on.

You keep ownership of the content you put into Kathari — property details, notes, checklists, condition ratings, and the photos cleaners upload as proof of work ("Your Content").

To operate the service for you, you grant Kathari a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content to the people connected to the job it belongs to (for example, displaying photos to the owner whose property was cleaned, or showing a checklist to the assigned cleaner). This license lasts only as long as needed to provide the service to you and ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups retained for a reasonable period.

You're responsible for the content you upload. By uploading content, you confirm you have the right to do so, that it doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, and that it complies with applicable law.

Kathari's software, brand, design, and content remain ours. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or branding.

When you use Kathari, you agree not to:

• Misrepresent who you are or impersonate someone else;
• Use Kathari to harass, threaten, or harm anyone;
• Upload illegal content, or content you don't have the rights to share;
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that aren't yours;
• Probe, scan, or interfere with the service's security or operation;
• Use scrapers, bots, or other automated means to access or copy the service, except as the service openly permits;
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without our written permission;
• Use Kathari for any purpose that violates applicable law.

Kathari can connect to third-party services that you choose to enable — for example, a short-term rental calendar feed such as Airbnb. We don't control those services, and we aren't responsible for their availability, terms, or actions. Your use of any connected third-party service is governed by that service's own terms and privacy policy.

We make no warranty about data we receive from a third-party service. If a connected provider shares incorrect or incomplete information with us, we'll display what we receive but can't guarantee its accuracy.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kathari and its affiliates disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the service will meet your specific needs, be error-free, or be available at all times.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Kathari, DeReya Tahoe LLC, or our affiliates, owners, officers, employees, or service providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Kathari in the 12 months immediately before the claim arose, or (b) US $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

You can stop using Kathari and delete your account at any time from your settings.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if your continued use would expose us to legal or security risk, or if we discontinue the service or a feature you rely on.

The provisions of these Terms that by their nature should continue after termination will do so — including your content license to the extent needed to wind down the service for you, our intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in Kathari or by email. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
